The Federal Reserve meets October 27-28, and the market has made its peace with a hold. CME FedWatch put the probability of unchanged rates at 83.9 percent as of October 20, and event contracts on Polymarket price "no change" near 86-87 percent, up from a 52 percent low earlier in the month.

The consensus is real, but it does not rest on a calm inflation picture. It rests on a Federal Reserve that has already hiked once this cycle, under a new chair who has deliberately refused to tell you what he will do next. That is the entire event risk into Wednesday: the roughly 15 percent hike probability embedded in fed funds futures, fed by the hottest producer price print of the cycle.
