US spot bitcoin ETFs logged a third straight session of inflows on Oct 21, adding about $524.8 million, per Alpha Finance, as institutional allocators used the recent dip to rebuild exposure. The three-day streak totals roughly $1.07 billion, with BlackRock’s IBIT contributing $235.0 million of Wednesday’s total, and the seven-session flow now positive at $911.7 million.

What the streak signals matters more than the number itself, because mid-October was choppy. The funds swung from +$189.9 million on Oct 2 to -$484.9 million on Oct 7 and to -$82.4 million on Oct 16, so three straight positive sessions read as a bid stabilizing rather than a fresh regime. The pattern says allocators used the sub-$82,000 dip to add exposure instead of fleeing it, at the same time the macro backdrop that fueled October’s swings stopped deteriorating: the 10-year Treasury trades near 5.15%, and the dollar index has pulled back to about 101.5 from a mid-October peak near 102.9, per Yahoo Finance (retrieved Oct 22).

That macro connection is the right frame, because bitcoin is trading as a liquidity asset before anything else. It prices off the real-yield and dollar complex that the macro desk tracks, and the fact that the tape has firmed even with yields still above five percent suggests the ETF bid is absorbing that headwind rather than being overwhelmed by it.

Where bitcoin sits: BTC-USD was changing hands near $82,700, just under an Oct 21 close of $82,984.70, roughly 29% below its 52-week high, a much smaller drawdown than ether’s, while spot ether ETFs shed about $1.08 billion in October, their largest monthly outflow since November 2025.

The balanced read is that three sessions are not yet a trend. Allocators have been flighty all month, and a jump in yields above 5.3% or a re-accelerating dollar would cap this bounce quickly; the opposite, a dovish lean from the Federal Reserve, would lift the complex fast. The Oct 28 FOMC decision is the next catalyst, and until it lands the flows worth watching are whether the streak holds into November rather than a single week’s headline.
