# Strait of Hormuz Tanker Incident: UKMTO Reports Waterline Explosion, Ship Continues

A tanker master reported an explosion at the port-side waterline while sailing out of the Strait of Hormuz, 16 nautical miles east of Khasab, Oman. The crew was safe and accounted for, and the vessel continued under its own power, according to a time-late report issued by United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) on November 6. The report describes a hazard to a ship in transit. It does not establish that Hormuz traffic stopped, that a cargo was lost or that insurance costs changed after the event.
