Samsung Electro-Mechanics approved the largest single-product investment in its history on September 28, and almost nobody outside Seoul's component beat noticed. The board signed off on 6.78 trillion won, about $5 billion at the 1,365.10 won/dollar rate quoted on September 29, to expand FC-BGA package substrate capacity: 4.27 trillion won at the Sejong plant, with mass production targeted for September 2028, and 2.51 trillion won through its Vietnamese subsidiary for completion by April 2028.
