Bitcoin ETFs' Largest Weekly Inflow of 2026 Flips YTD Flows Positive Even as BTC Slips 3.6%

Institutional money kept buying Bitcoin even as prices pulled back. US spot bitcoin exchange-traded funds recorded their largest single-week net inflow of 2026, roughly $2.39 billion for the week, enough to flip the year-to-date flow picture positive after earlier redemptions.
Bitcoin hovered near $83,400 on Wednesday, off roughly 3.6% from about $86,500 a week earlier. Soft US jobs and confidence data set the tone. Job openings eased to 7.1 million in the latest JOLTS reading and the consumer confidence survey slipped, data that pushed the token to an intraday low near $82,000 (a print of $82,776 was reported) on Monday before a partial recovery toward the $84,000 area, per CoinGecko and Blockport data.
The price weakness did not reach the ETF channel. Fund flows have now been positive for about eight consecutive sessions, with roughly $31 million coming in on Sept. 28 alone, according to SimpleMining's live feed. Cumulative net inflows into US spot bitcoin ETFs since the January 2024 launch sit near $57.5 billion against $107.8 billion of total net assets. The year-to-date turn and the quiet on the Strategic Reserve are the subject of Bitcoin ETF flows flip 2026 positive, but the Strategic Reserve still hasn't bought.
The notable shift this week is breadth. BTC, ETH, SOL and XRP spot ETFs all posted net inflows on Sept. 28, a combined $65 million across the major crypto funds, per CryptoBriefing via TradingView. Earlier in the year the flow story ran almost entirely bitcoin. That broadening suggests institutional allocation is spreading to ether and the second tier rather than concentrating in a single token. The ether leg of that broadening is covered in our $794M ether ETF inflow week.
Supporting the picture on-chain, USD-pegged stablecoin supply rose to $312.88 billion, up $3.38 billion week over week, per DeFi Llama, a steady source of deployable capital. Total DeFi TVL sits near $94.8 billion, led by Ethereum at $53.3 billion.
The setup is two-sided. Sustained ETF inflows and rising stablecoin supply argue the institutional bid is intact, while soft macro data and expectations of further Fed rate increases keep a ceiling on risk assets. Bitcoin remains a high-beta liquidity trade in this regime rather than a hedge. Watch Monday's low near $82,000 as the near-term line; a durable hold with inflows continuing would point to another test of the $84,000 to $86,500 zone, while a decisive break opens lower ground toward $78,000 to $80,000.
