ADP Hiring Data Show 23,750 Jobs a Week, While BLS Payrolls Stay Soft

ADP’s weekly private hiring pulse rose to 23,750 jobs per week for the four weeks ending September 19, its fifth consecutive increase, according to ADP Research’s October 6, 2026 NER Pulse release ( ADP Research, NER Pulse, October 6, 2026 ). That is a clear improvement from the late-July low in the same series, but it is not yet evidence that the broader labor market has turned: the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported only 29,000 payroll additions for September on October 2.
